With product centres throughout the UK, our client is a known market leader in the sales and distribution of specific materials. Servicing a number of growing industries such as Signage and Display, Building and Construction, and Engineering and Industrial, our client is now looking for a leader to join and take ownership of its Bedfordshire branch.
This multi-faceted General Manager prize role has final responsibility for all aspects of the running of the Centre which includes every aspect of the operation, all staff, sales effort, inventory control, marketing, financial reporting and compliance and data processing.
This a hands-on position with the complete autonomy over the day-to-day running of the business, to include the sales office and warehouse. This role would suit someone who aspires to have the autonomy to run a business as they see fit, in order to achieve profitable growth.
We are looking for someone with high energy and gravitas, who has a real can do' attitude. The ideal candidate is likely to have a distribution sales background who understands the particular features of a similar business and who wants the freedom to progress their career.
Key responsibilities of the Business Unit Manager - Sales / Distribution:

•Identify new product and market opportunities and develop and execute a business plan for the distribution centre
•Promote and market the services provided by the distribution centre to its customer base in the most appropriate and beneficial manner
•Achieve sales forecasts and targets according to plan
•Manage, maintain and monitor inventory levels to meet customer needs efficiently and in a cost effective way
•Negotiate local purchasing conditions and rebates with suppliers
•Maximise the asset utilisation of the business and establish capital expenditure needs
•Produce and present an annual forecast / business plan to the company's shareholders
Key requirements for the Business Unit Manager - Sales / Distribution:

•Proven ability in management and sales within a business-to-business environment
•Experience of developing, coaching and motivating a high performing sales and operations team in a competitive and results driven environment
•Ability to prepare budgets and demonstrate a clear understanding of full P&L
•Ability to develop, execute and review business plans
•Professional and clear communication skills coupled with the ability to network at high level and build strong business relationships
