The Materials Manager work with EMEA Head of Supply Chain will be responsible for managing all procurement and inventory control activities of the Operations.
They will work closely with engineering, operations and quality departments to find, evaluate, approve and develop key suppliers on the basis of specific metrics including; technical ability, quality, on time delivery and cost to support a rapidly growing business.
+ Active participation as Material Management lead on cross-functional product development/engineering team during all phases of new product development and introduction processes.
+ The implementation and use of a cohesive selection and evaluation process for all current and new suppliers as required supporting existing and new products with specific Key Performance Indicators tied to overall strategic goals of the company
+ The development and growth of strategic supplier agreements
+ The development of existing suppliers to be competitive with best in class suppliers in the areas of price and quality, to be capable of supporting customer needs with optimal investment in inventory and be capable of bringing innovation to the new product introduction process
+ The consistent supply of parts and products that meet specifications from suppliers
+ Coaching and mentoring of procurement team(s) in order to achieve the supply chain team objectives including; Purchasing, Receiving, Stockroom, Sub-Contractor Manufacturing, and Shipping.
+ Responsible for leading policy and developing a strategy to deliver year over year purchasing savings
+ Develop relationships and agreements with OEM partners to improve performance of incoming materials across both facilities to support specific business requirements and meet external customer expectations.
+ Ensure full integration of the Material team members and deliverables into the new product development programs for all products
+ Develop and implement processes and procedures necessary to ensure effective selection, maintenance and development of suppliers.
+ Ensure that the Materials team agree and implement strategic supplier agreements. This would include developing, implementing, maintaining, and reporting on key performance metrics for all key suppliers and inventory details in order to drive year over year cost reduction plan.
+ Develop and implement proactive quality processes with our key suppliers in order to ensure the consistent delivery of quality products which meet all aspects of specifications. Work with the Quality team to resolve quality issues and seek indemnification from suppliers for resulting damages.
+ Coach and mentor all members of the Materials team.
+ Develop and integrate processes through the supply chain to share valuable information, including demand signals, forecasts, inventory, transportation, potential collaboration, etc.
+ Manage inventory including raw materials, work-in-progress (WIP) and finished goods.
+ Monitor cash flow by working with finance to arrange the payment terms and methodologies for exchanging funds across entities within the supply chain.
+ Maintain up-to-date knowledge base of long-term business and market needs.
Experience and Attributes:
+ Extensive experience in supply chain management, including but not limited to quality management, financial analysis, and contract negotiations.
+ A proven track record in developing and implementing business process solutions to improve supply chain processes. Including inventory management and improving inventory turn levels.
+ Experience working with advanced manufacturing and Lean techniques.
+ Demonstrated leadership skills including the ability to structure work, select employees, inspire performance, foster teams, use/share information and facilitate change.
+ Extensive experience in negotiating and managing multi-million pound supply agreements.
+ A proven track record in achievement of significant cost reduction in purchased parts and materials.
+ Proficient in contract management and financial forecasting.
+ Proficient in Microsoft word, Excel, power point and project management
+ Proven ability to work well with others at all organizational levels, to organize and prioritize, and to participate on cross-functional teams.
+ Excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills
+ Degree (or experience equivalent) in Business, Science or Engineering
+ Professional supply chain certification e.g. MCIPS preferred.
+ Experience of multi Team Management
