A permanent Machine Shop Supervisor, with experience of running a busy CNC based machine shop, is required to carry out a range of work for the Oil & Gas, Automotive, Steel Industry, Rail, Nuclear, Renewable and Aerospace sectors. This role is based in the Durham area.
As a Machine Shop Supervisor, you will lead a team of CNC machinists (around 6-8 people) and be responsible for overseeing the successful running of the machines. Also coaching and mentoring, you will also oversee the team and ensure any issues are dealt with both quickly and efficiently. Acting as a technical support system, you will implement best practice methods and health and safety procedures and overall be responsible for the production and scheduling of work.
To succeed within this role, you must have excellent technical knowledge and possess experience of overseeing the machine shop and the successful running of the CNC machines. The ability to program, set & operate CNC Machines is key alongside an ability to carry out programming using AlphaCAM or another associated system. You will be familiar with target achievements and planning and be able to set standards whilst ensuring the work schedule is achieved from all staff members.
Alongside your main duties will be elements of administration including the handling of grievance and disciplines, handovers, staff training and overall inspections. Following all aspects of Health and Safety you will also have a sound knowledge of creating programme routes and be aware of costs, controls and delivery. You must also be prepared to drop on to the tools from time to time when necessary
In return, you will receive an hourly rate of £12.50 to £15.50 plus 21% shift allowance. Overtime is paid at 1 1/3 after 48hrs for weekdays and 1 ½ on weekends and you will be entitled to 20 days holiday plus statutory holidays alongside a company pension scheme.
This is a permanent back shift role in which you will be flexible in order to cover overtime.
