Amazon is the fastest growing company globally and in the drive to reach absolute customer satisfaction operates an expansive network of automated fulfillment centres. A vital function of our FCs is the Engineering operation to ensure maximum productivity which requires the strong and astute leadership of Amazon's Site Engineering and Facilities Manager.

Amazon's distribution centres are large scale, highly automated buildings packed with PLC controlled conveyor belts, automated cranes and sortation machinery to robotic pick-and-place machinery and AGV (Automated Guided Vehicle) systems. All this, and the building facilities, requires expert and professional maintenance of a highly skilled engineering team.

As a successful candidate you will report into our UK Engineering Manager and will lead this Engineering function with clear and concise communication. You will continue to manage, co-ordinate and lead strategy of the Engineering Operation of the distribution centre to optimize availability and performance of the facility, and its automation.

You will also set objectives for and monitor the performance of the first line managers and team leaders; focus on continuous improvement, and champion change in all areas of MHE, operations, people and customer.

Role Requirements

* Degree/Chartered Engineer status is preferred.
* Extensive background in a relevant Electrical/Mechanical/Automation field and maintenance
* Strong people management and leaderships skills with demonstrable experience within a relevant industry and business function
* Project management aptitude
* Nebosh National General Certificate
* Ability to communicate at all levels, within the team, wider business and suppliers.
* Creative ability to develop new ideas and implement improvements.
