Our client is looking for an experienced Control & Instrumentation Engineer Piping Designer/Engineer to work for them ideally in a permanent staff role (the client may consider someone on a contractual basis - dependent on their experience). The ideal candidate will have DCS/SCADA/PLC experience, be educated to a degree level and be TUV Certified.|
Permanent - Approximately 45-50K pa if a permanent member of staff (dependent on experience)
Contract - dependent on experience
Purpose of the Role
To develop, manage and deliver, Control & Instrumentation design packages.
â¢ Degree in Instrumentation & Control Engineering preferred, Chartered status or prepared to work towards Chartered status. HNC qualification with demonstrable competencies would be considered.
â¢ Extensive Instrumentation and design experience, principally within the Chemical, Petrochemical, Oil & Gas, Steel, Pharmaceutical and/or Power industries included.
â¢ Have in-depth understanding of Instrumentation principles, PLCâs, Control systems, Emergency shutdown systems and Fire & Gas systems.
â¢ Able to manage system integration subcontractors, produce FDS/URS and Installation Work Packs.
â¢ Good understanding of process safety requirements (61511/61508) on top tier COMAH sites including experience in SIL assessments and verification. TUV Functional Safety accreditation would be an advantage.
â¢ Experienced knowledge of engineering software and tools, including AutoCAD.
â¢ Knowledge of SmartPlant Instrumentation would be an advantage.
â¢ Effective communication and time management.
â¢ Ability to lead a team of engineers/CAD staff.
â¢ Ability to manage costs and schedule via a CTR system to tight budgets/deadlines.
â¢ System Integration experience, inc DCS, PLC (Allen Bradley/Siemens/Rockwell) ideally on gas plants
â¢ Responsible for Safety and Environmental implications of engineering design
â¢ Responsible for instrumentation and Control design development in accordance with the project quality plan, and all applicable codes and legislation.
â¢ Production and/or checking of instrument calculations.
â¢ Generation and checking of equipment specifications, drawings and data sheets
â¢ Responsible for the management of change control during design.
â¢ Development and approval of all Instrumentation and Control engineering drawings and deliverables in accordance with company and client procedures.
â¢ Selection and liaison with equipment suppliers
â¢ Investigate, develop and train others in new processes and design techniques
â¢ Manage small sized engineering projects
â¢ Act as the main client discipline liaison during project execution
â¢ Prepare Instrumentation & Control engineering person-hour estimates and manage discipline engineering budgets
â¢ Responsible for the quality of the Instrumentation & Control design and all related deliverables and documentation issued during project execution
