About the Business Line
We provide professional services in areas such as aviation, transit, freight rail, highways and bridges, planning, and ports and marine. Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a motivated and talented Civil Transportation Engineer to join our Transportation Infrastructure Department. The successful candidate will work on a variety of transportation, site/civil and utility projects for municipal, state, and private clients. Typical assignments may include roadway and highway, sewer and water, site development, drainage, green infrastructure, resiliency, aviation and transit projects in the New York City area and beyond. The position will be based in NYC, with collaboration with other AECOM offices as needed.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Completion of design tasks, such as roadway alignments, drainage designs, site grading, and permitting
  • Completion of technical reports, technical specifications, and permit applications
  • Coordination with various engineering disciplines and team members
  • Working with supervisor/project manager to meet or exceed quality, schedule, and budget goals

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
  • 5 years of related experience
  • PE Certification
  • Roadway and site/civil design experience in the NY Metro Area
  • Experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D and/or Microstation/InRoads
  • Familiar with NY/ NJ agency design standards and specifications
  • Solid oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team setting
  • Flexibility to work on a variety of projects and tasks

Preferred Qualifications
  • 8 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated DDC, EDC, DOT, and/or PANYNJ experience
  • Site/civil experience for private and public clients in NY/NJ
  • Varied design experience including drainage, rail, aviation, etc
  • Construction inspection, scheduling or cost estimating experience
  • Ability to oversee and review work of junior engineers
  • Basic understanding of project finances
