About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
The Environment Business Unit of AECOM is actively seeking an experienced, highly talented Environmental Scientist for immediate employment in the Austin, Texas office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be a part of the Air Quality Department, specific to Source Testing. The AECOM Source Testing group is a nationally recognized air quality consulting team that provides stack testing services to clients, both nationally and internationally. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including emissions compliance testing, permitting, research and design, and technical data reporting.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborate and work as part of a team of scientists that provide air quality testing services
  • Calibrate, maintain, and operate air monitoring instrumentation and equipment
  • Maintain electronic and hardcopy records in an organized manner
  • Collect, organize, and prepare data for reporting
  • Provide technical assistance to other departments on a project specific basis
  • Continually upgrade technical knowledge and capabilities

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or other related science disciplines
  • 2 years stack testing experience and relevant work experience involving data collection, data review and preparation of scientific documents (work performed in graduate school may satisfy this requirement)
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Experienced and knowledgeable in EPA stack testing methods associated with 40CFR60, 63, and 75
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with EPA instrumental stack testing methods, such as 40CFR60, Appendix A, Methods 3A, 6C, 7E, 10, and 25A
  • Must be a quick learner and able to grasp scientific concepts and apply them to different technical challenges
  • Must be a self-starter and motivated in producing high-quality results for clients
  • Ability to effectively work in a team environment
  • Must be able to work in field assignments, such as refineries and chemical plants
  • Strong communications skills are required as the successful candidate will work with scientists/engineers, project managers, and clients in the execution of projects
  • Must possess problem-solving skills and have a general mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights
  • Willing to travel up to 65% of the year
  • Qualified applicants will be subject to drug screening and medical monitoring
  • Due to the nature of this work, U.S. citizenship is required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Qualified Source Testing Individual (QSTI)
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER or 8 Hour Refresher training
  • Transportation Worked Identification Credential (TWIC)
  • Basic Orientation Plus program completion
