Purpose of Role
To provide a quality library service which meets contractual requirements and the needs of the community.

Principal Accountabilities
•· Manage the delivery of a consistent and high quality service at all times by ensuring staff adopt a customer focused approach and meet the agreed standards for presentation and behaviour.•· Ensure a safe working environment for all the users of the premises through daily inspections, adherence to the Carillion DWB policy and monthly Safety Advisory Groups•· Liaise with the Rota manager to ensure that the site is open and available to the public at the agreed published times and that all sickness absence and annual leave is reported and monitored.•· To have overall responsibility for the management of the administrative, and financial procedures necessary to support the effective operation of the service, including the collation of daily and monthly statistics, banking and building issues and IT issues.•· To deliver daily team brief and toolbox talks as appropriate•· To liaise with the Stock Team over stock requirements, direct deliveries and Collection HQ procedures•· Ensure staff in the libraries complete stock tasks such as receipting of direct deliveries and completing Collection HQ tasks in an appropriate time frame.•· Be responsible for the recruitment, training and support of volunteers•· Ensure libraries are meeting library audit standards•· Ensuring all events run smoothly as well as services.•· Ensure that the services available are appropriate to the needs of members of the community, including those who are not currently library users.•· To work with the Development Managers to support literacy and reading development through the organisation and delivery of services that promote reading, learning and library use, by adults and children.•· Manage and oversee the performance of staff ensuring thato staff are trained accordingly to perform their jobroleso appraisals and one-to-ones are carried out regularlyo appropriate targets are set to achieve the aims of the Service Plano poor performance is addressed•· Welcome and encourage customer feedback and to seek to constantly improve services in response to the feedback received•· To check the documentation supplied by external contractors and ensure the work is carried out safely and to the required standard.•· Through regular monitoring ensure an up-to-date and complete set of compliance records is maintained on sitewhich all staff know how to access•· Carry out duties in accordance with the Carillion equality and diversity policy•· The specific duties of the post may change from time to time as the service develops into different areas of provision without altering the nature of the post

Additional Role Information
This post is based in Ealing, but post holder may be required to work in any Carillion Library. Core hours are between 8am and 8pm Monday - Sunday. Regular weekend work may be required.
Candidate Profile

Knowledge and
§ Experience of working in a local authority environment, with a
track record in delivering high-performing library and cultural
§ Proven ability to deliver effective programmes and activities
increasing customer satisfaction and levels of engagement with
the service as a result.
§ Experience of driving service improvement through effective
performance monitoring.
§ Understanding of Safeguarding in a library environment
§ Experience of budget monitoring.
§ Experience of partnership working
§ Experience of managing staff
§ Experience of management level within an operational
environment for library services or similar is essential
§ Proven leadership skills and the ability to manage and motivate
§ To be flexible and have the ability and experience to manage
§ Experience of working in a results-orientated environment
§ Ability to interact with internal and external contacts at all levels,
displaying a professional attitude at all times
§ Ability to demonstrate proven customer focus and customer
service skills
§ Ability to prioritise multiple responsibilities, and display sound
judgement and co-ordination
§ Excellent time management and organisational skills

§ Flexibility to work outside of normal office hours
