You will be working for a special health authority based in the Newcastle area. This particular company is an essential part of the NHS and is committed to making the most of every donation made, whether this be a blood donation right through to organ donation.
Your new role
You will be working as a transport driver for this particular strand of the NHS. The role will be varied and inclusive of delivering blood and organs to hospitals and health centres as well as collecting from donation centres. This role will be based in Newcastle but will be inclusive of driving all throughout the North East and on occasion as far as Leeds.
This department operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so there will be shift work involved. You will be placed on a 13 week rotational system and this will be inclusive of early shifts, night shifts and weekends. For the majority of the role you will be driving a transit/sprinter sized vehicle, however on occasion you will be expected to drive a 7.5 tonne refrigerated vehicle.
What you'll need to succeed
In order to be successful in this role you must hold a clean, valid UK driving licence and be qualified to drive up to and including 7.5 tonne. You will be expected to cover for at least the next 3 months so must be available for that time frame. They are looking for someone to start ASAP so you must have the flexibility to do so. They are looking for someone who is an experienced driver but also someone who can be discreet as sensitive information will be dealt with and you may be included in delicate situations.
