General Overview: |
To deliver specialist high-voltage and low-voltage electrical engineering design support within the clients UK Energy Solutions, focusing on project delivery from concept through to completion.
The Electrical Design Engineer works within the clients UK Energy Solutions project teams, and with external and internal customers, external statutory bodies, suppliers, and contractors, to safely and efficiently integrate energy services plant, and provide on-going operational support.
Reporting to the Head of Electrical Design, the Electrical Design Engineer carries out preliminary studies, prepares cost estimates, and develops installation design detail in the form of models, reports, schedules and AutoCAD drawings, typically for energy services projects incorporating steam, hot water, and electrical power generation.
The Electrical Design Engineer maintains knowledge of current technical and safety, legislation, Standards, and best practice guidance, and ensures that these are incorporated into all design activities
Qualifications or Required Experience:
The Electrical Design Engineer is preferably a Chartered Electrical Engineer, or working towards this status.
Substantial experience of applying electrical engineering design principles across a broad range of industrial and commercial energy services plant and systems at high-voltage and low-voltage is essential. Ideally this will include liaison with electricity distribution network operators, and the preparation of generation new connection applications.
Strong written and verbal communication and information technology skills are essential.
Experience in the application of electrical design software for high-voltage and low-voltage short-circuit current studies, protection systems design, and earthing systems design, is desirable.
Project management experience, including the installation of industrial and commercial energy services plant and systems at high-voltage and low-voltage is desirable.
Experience in the role of Authorised Person/Authorising Engineer (HV and LV) is desirable.
Position is available as a contract or perm placement. Salary/rate is competitive and negotiable
