Manufacturing Process Innovation Engineer - Composite Materials - Cambridgeshire - Competitive salary

With their strong investment in research and development, and culture of continuous improvement, our client is the industry leader in the manufacturing of industrial fabrics and composite materials. They are currently seeking a Manufacturing Innovation Process Engineer for their Cambridgeshire based location.

The selected individual will be responsible for but not limited to the following obligations:

Lead Research and Technology activity on manufacturing technology development
Develop and implement novel manufacturing technologies from design stage, through specification and to installation and commissioning
Manage implementation of novel manufacturing technologies in full scale
Initiate, justify and manage projects within Manufacturing Innovation group and in cross-functional and cross-sites dimension
Plan project budgets with manager support
Make active use of risk management tools in project work
Manage and meet multiple deadlines, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion
Contribute to strategic Research and Technology targets through management of our academic and intellectual property searches in aid of our inventions and patenting processes.
Engage actively in safe working practices
Undertake champion tasks in areas including 5s, LEAN and Continuous Improvement
Communicate effectively as necessary to all levels within the organization and with relevant external contacts including vendors, suppliers and industrial bodies
Maintain detailed reporting and management oriented presentations
Apply relevant statistical tools and methodology to project activity
Engage with technical community and facilitate cross-functional activity
Lead by example to cultivate and maintain a culture built on teamwork and the highest level of personal ethics

Strong Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls) and Science (Physics, Chemistry, Material Science) background
Ideally educated to PhD or MSc level in one of the above disciplines
Relevant industrial experience in composite technology
Relevant industrial experience of web conversion processes
Project management skills and experience
Willing and able to travel 10% of the time
Knowledge and experience of Six Sigma tools and methodology is desirable
Oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment is essential
