Mechanical Senior Test & Development Engineer|
This is a great opportunity for a Senior Test & Development Engineer in Newcastle / Northumberland, Tyne And Wear commutable from Newcastle, Cramlington, Annitsford, Beaconhill, Blyth, Morpeth, Seaton, Ashington, Whitley Bay, Newcastle upon Tyne, Stamfordham, Milbourne, Stannington, New Hartley, Gateshead paying approx £35,000-£45,000 per annum.
The successful Senior Test & Development Engineer will be working for an employer who:
* has been a household name for over 50 years and is now at the forefront in the design, development and manufacture of complex, highly stressed systems used in the construction transportation market place
* are a global supplier of attachments to the construction, mining and quarrying industries

This role will be fundamental in the growth of the test development team to enhance the company's testing capability for safety-critical products, including the quality, aesthetics, product durability, performance and compliance. You will be part of a mechanical engineering team to develop a new culture of driven and dynamic engineers.
The role itself will include: Leading the design and implementation of test systems to support design verification activities across the product lifecycle including mechanical and possibly electromagnetic, electronic and control elements in the future.
Lead the implementation and development of LabView and PLC based test control systems. Devise and maintain test standards and conduct peer reviews
Develop the team's strategy for data acquisition standardisation.
Responsible for assessing and creating test processes that are more efficient through continuous improvement activities.
Devise test equipment specifications and methodology and develop detection methods in support of DFMEA activities.
Manage and oversee the specification, design and procurement of test equipment to support the company's growth
Produce version controlled drawing packs suitable for manufacture, installation and maintenance of test equipment and liaise with suppliers to maintain robust test solutions
Provide instruction and operator test equipment training and coach and mentor test engineers.
Provide detailed development reports and plans as appropriate.
Ideally degree qualified (preferably 2:1 or above) in an engineering field, either mechanical, structural, mechatronics or similar
Ideally a good knowledge of LabView and PLCs for engineering test
Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to interact with, and present to, engineers and stakeholders, especially in a cross - functional team environment.
Strong leadership skills either in projects or mentoring and leading engineers to support and develop their careers.
Strong character with the ability to drive and motivate people
A knowledge of safety critical electro-mechanical systems within either a construction equipment, automotive, aerospace, or similar background.
Diligent approach to the development process.
