We are currently seeking an Area Construction Manager to oversee the Southern California Region, working from one of our offices in either Los Angeles, Orange County, or San Bernardino.

The Area Construction Manager will be responsible for general management of the company's Construction Services staff and operations located throughout the Southern California region. This person will also take the lead on major projects. Areas of focus will include administration, project management, business development, and client relations.

A "doer-seller" orientation is a must. The Area Construction Manager will be relied upon to provide sound leadership, solid project management, and increased profitability for WSP|Parsons Brinckerhoff.

Administrative/Management duties include:
      • Operations management for offices within the Southern California region
      • Employee recruitment, retention, mentoring and training
      • Company asset management
      • Project oversight
      • Providing technical expertise to other staff and in problem-solving
      • Partnering with other leaders and human resources to address and remedy staff and other issues
Project management duties include:
      • General management and supervision of major projects (including projects valuing over $1 million)
      • Preparation of cost proposals and financial management
      • Creation and maintenance of staffing plans
      • Active participation in preparation of technical documents
      • Representing the project at client meetings
Business development/client relations duties include:
      • Participating in the development of annual marketing plans for assigned offices
      • Participating in client relations activities (meetings, etc.)
      • Establishing goals and action plans to drive continuous improvement in client relations and profitability
      • Identifying key prospects and leads within the Southern California region and formulating strategies for successful pursuits
The Area Construction Manager will also perform other duties as needs arise and evolve.

Job Requirements


The Area Construction Manager must meet the following qualifications:
      • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture (required!)
      • P.E., CCM, PMP, or other directly relevant certification/license preferred
      A minimum of 15 years of progressively-responsible relevant work experience (to include transportation experience), including experience in the region to be managed
      • Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams
      • Client-facing experience, including business development and client relations
      • Ability to generate new business while cultivating existing relationships to drive profitability and growth
      • Experience with Caltrans is desirable; those with this experience will be given priority consideration
The ability to work in this country immediately is required.
