GDMS has an immediate opening for a Senior Digital Systems Engineer to join our Scottsdale, AZ team. The position provides an opportunity to develop the cutting-edge technology that supports some of our nation's fundamental defense and communication services. GDMS employees work closely with esteemed clients to develop solutions that allow them to carry out high-stakes national security missions. The selected candidate will work with collaborative teams to build and ensure adequate functionality of various GDMS and client technologies. The Senior Digital Systems Engineer will apply digital signal processing and digital communications theory to analyze, design, develop and test GDMS signal processing systems. The Senior Digital Systems Engineer develop innovative, flexible digital signal processing solutions to satisfy customer business needs. Additionally, the successful candidate will:

  • Formulate operational communications system concepts

  • Perform mission, functional, and design trade-offs and risk analysis

  • Conduct requirements analysis to select systems architecture

  • Prepare specifications for GDMS systems to ensure designs satisfy customer's functional and mission assurance specification

  • Exercise creative thinking

  • Deliver innovative, flexible, digital signal processing solutions to satisfy customers business needs

  • Support and engage in programs, projects and practices within the GDMS culture and strategy, and comply with all policies and procedures

  • Follow marketplace and company trends and developments to ensure personal skills and work practices are consistent with, and/or superior to, industry best practices

The successful candidate must also possess:

  • Fluency with MATLAB and Simulink

  • Understanding of digital signal processing concepts and methods

    • Sampling theory (required)

    • Digital filter design

    • Polyphase filtering

    • Equalization

    • Signal predistortion for correction of signal fidelity degradations

  • Knowledge and prior experience in coherent communications

    • Modulation theory (e.g., phase modulation, Binary Phase-Shift Keying, Quadrative Phase-Shift Keying)

    • Carrier and symbol tracking loops

    • Automatic gain control

    • Lock Detectors

    • Pulse shaping (root-raised cosine)

    • Intermediate Frequency Sampling

Basic Qualifications:

Candidates must demonstrate passion for innovation, a sophisticated understanding of communications and signal processing systems and the ability to further advance GDMS technology.

The Senior Digital Systems Engineer position requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent field and at least 8 to 10 years of related work experience. Applicants with a Master's degree and a minimum of 6 to 8 years of related experience are also eligible. Travel may be required

Candidates must be able to obtain a TS/SCI clearance within a reasonable amount of time from date of hire. Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information. Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required.
