Building Engineering
We deliver creative solutions for building projects for industry, government, commercial and leisure sectors. Our building engineering specialists have expertise in structural and building services engineering, fire engineering, acoustics, facades and seismic design. We embed sustainability principles in every design.

Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented MEP Buildings Principal for the New York City Metro Region.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, those listed below:
  • Team leadership and development
  • Growth of building engineering practice through the engagement of both internal and external client networks
  • Proposal development
  • Client identification, management, and growth
  • Drive a quality based culture of engineering to support our clients, both internal and external
  • Develop system narratives (writing, organizing the document, develops images)
  • Review / Edit specifications
  • Interact and work with diverse set of clients and subcontractors

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 10 years of mechanical engineering experience with a consulting or design-build firm
  • Licensed Professional Engineer
  • Experience with Revit
  • Experience with sustainable design and energy efficiency projects
  • Experience with Design Build and other Alternative Delivery practices
  • Successfully performed the role of a lead engineer on various projects and acted as the PM covering electrical and plumbing trades, in addition to the mechanical trade
  • Ability to provide and assist engineers in providing innovative, cost effective and elegant design solutions in accordance with the project architectural requirements
  • Demonstrated understanding of Mechanical/HVAC systems for federal, corporate, commercial, educational, medical laboratory and sport facilities
  • Documented experience with high performance design, and aesthetically challenging design with high profile architecture firms
  • Excellent communication skills: articulate, assertive and confident
  • Creative thinker with effective teamwork skills
  • Ability to thrive as a leader in a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy, or High Performance Design
  • Understanding of the New York City Metro Area market
  • Publication of technical articles
  • ASHRAE HPBD Certification
  • CEM designation
