Job Title: Graduate Software Engineer
Working as the Graduate Software Engineer you will embark on a tailored training plan, this will allow you to gain exposure to different phases of the engineer development lifecycle. You will be working under the guidance of more senior engineers and you will be involved in the below;
*Producing elements of written Software Development Plans (SDP) to identify work activities to be carried out during an engineering development.
*Interpreting system requirements into clear unambiguous software design requirements from which you or other engineers can work.
*Producing embedded software design implementations for avionics grade products.
*Documenting design activities and using standard tools to ensure traceability of design to requirements
*Carrying out technical analysis of engineering options using simulation, test or design data to draw clear conclusions and make recommendations to other engineers and management.
*Presenting software level design information to project review boards, which may include customer representatives.
*Peer reviewing technical information, documents or decisions made by colleagues in software and other engineering disciplines
*Constructing and/or executing test plans to verify software against requirements
The successful candidate will be educated to degree level in a Software/Electronics or Computer Engineering discipline with a minimum of a 2.1 classification, you will ideally have exposure to a similar position/responsibilities and you will demonstrate drive and ability, to solve engineering problems in a structured manner and to lead successful delivery. It is essential that you have the ability to work in a team of engineers from different disciplines and with non-engineers and you have an aptitude for identifying solutions and trade-offs to engineering problems using analysis and evidence to draw conclusions and make recommendations. Knowledge of C language is advantageous along with a willingness to learn new software languages, language subsets (such as MISRA C) and higher level modelling languages (such as UML and SCADE).
This opportunity will suit a Graduate who holds strong communication skills, both written and verbal and those who are able to plan work and prioritise activities in order to deliver agreed commitments.
The successful candidate will be encouraged and supported to join a relevant engineering institution (typically the IET) and attain chartered status in due course.
