Engineering Geologist / Geotechnical Engineer|
Based in Charlbury, with UK and International travel
GWP Consultants is an independent consultancy partnership working in sustainable mineral, water and waste management in the UK and overseas. GWP is based in Charlbury, Oxfordshire.
Due to our expanding workload, GWP have a full time position for an engineering geologist or geotechnical engineer. Working alongside a team of geologists, geotechnical and mining engineers and hydrogeologists, the successful applicant will liaise with clients and will assist in organising and conducting site investigations, geotechnical assessments, and CQA monitoring. Work will also include the analysis of data and technical reporting as well as quarry design work including the design of tips, lagoons and excavated soil and rock slopes and other matters related to the extractive and waste industries.
You may be a recent MSc graduate or have up to 5 year's relevant experience. You will need to have a relevant post-graduate qualification and at least a 2:1 in Geology or Earth Science as a first degree, a good mathematics A level (or evidence of equivalent attainment at university level) and a high standard of written English. The role will require a sound knowledge PC based software, including Word, Excel and other Microsoft Office applications. You may also be required to use AutoCAD, LSS surface modelling, BlastMetrix3D, Rocscience and RS2 finite difference software (for all of which, suitable training will be given).
You need to be self-motivated and able to work well both within a multi-disciplinary team and independently. A full UK driving licence is essential. The work will be in both the UK and overseas. Over the last 5-6 years GWP's overseas work has included countries such as Cameroon, Romania, Kiribati, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Hong Kong, UAE and Oman.
