QA Manager - Slough - £45,000 - £50,000 Salary - Company Car - Brand New Position for 15 year Water Contract

Company Overview

This company is part of a strategic infrastructure alliance with Thames Water that will help deliver £1 billion worth of work over the next 5 years, with also 15 years worth of work guaranteed which is the longest awarded contract in this sector.

Due to a restructure, a brand new position has been created for a QA Manager to come in and manage the data validation, streetworks and auditing of this Thames Water contract.

The company installs and replaces water meters on behalf of Thames Water customers. This involves excavation of the highway, backfills and reinstatements along with the physical meter being connected / exchanged. This is a high volume contract comprising up to 1500 jobs per week.

Role Outline

As QA Manager on the contract, you role will be to resolve existing issues relating to defects on excavations / reinstatements and to ensure data and pictures are effectively collected to be able to charge for the work carried out. Thames Water require proof of installation and this is not recorded in all cases leading to an issue with billing.

Typical issues arise from the need to close jobs in line with the street works notices in order to avoid fixed penalty fines. Temporary tarmac or poor quality work is leading to defects being picked up by the council - a quality issue which needs to be resolved. On the data side, each field team is equipped with a toughbook in order to record activity and photograph work. This is not happening in all cases.

To help resolve these issues, you will manage a team consisting of the Data Validation Manager, Streetworks Manager and several auditors.

This will predominately be an office based role between the Slough and Langley offices, and the main focus of the position will be to manage the auditing, data validation and streetworks teams and to aid building relationships.

Communication is absolutely key to this role in order to resolve these issues for the client and to also build relationships with the men on the ground to get the work done. We are seeking a visible leader who can bring each of these teams together.


Have previously worked on a high volume, low value utilities contract

Able to demonstrate a strong background in data and trend analysis

Been heavily involved in auditing

Have a strong knowledge of streetworks, and previous streetworks qualifications are desirable

Have very strong people management skills and are able to work collaboratively

Build solid and long-term relationships with the teams and operational heads

Have very strong communication skills to build relationships at all levels


£45,000 - £50,000 annual salary DOE

Company car

33 days holiday (including bank holidays)

6% pension
