Continuous Improvement (CI) Engineer
My client is a global leader in aerospace design and manufacturing. Based in Bedfordshire, they are currently seeking to recruit a Continuous Improvement Engineer to be based at their busy site. The successful candidate will be involved in all aspects of delivering the continuous improvement strategy across the various business operations which includes identifying and targeting waste reduction opportunities.
Applications are invited from Continuous Improvement Engineers / Technicians, as well as Quality Engineers / Technicians seeking a career in CI, with experience of working in a production or operations environment within automotive / aerospace / pharmaceutical / medical / OEM / special purpose machinery / or other low to medium volume manufacturing.
This role covers a range of responsibilities including:
* Developing the Lean culture within the business utilising tools and methodologies (5S, Six Sigma, Value Stream Mapping, etc.)
* Oversight for effective implementation of CI efforts and monitor results via customer satisfaction and business metrics
* Leading cross functional teams
* Facilitating data gathering, scope out development, and plan events in preparation for Kaizen & CI events
* Developing close working relationships with internal partners and external suppliers to drive supply chain improvement initiatives
* Delivering corporate training events and tailor training based on latest company data
* Writing reports and presenting results to senior management
* Defining standardised procedures for all key processes and ensure adherence to them
This is a challenging role; the successful applicant will be flexible, determined and self-motivated. Candidates should hold a technical qualification in a relevant engineering discipline and have several years experience in a similar CI role. You must have knowledge and previous experience of applying improvement tools and methodologies including Six Sigma, Kaizens, 5S, etc. and be able to include examples of implementing the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
Candidates must be able to convey information to all relevant stakeholders, therefore excellent communication skills and customer facing experience is essential, as is the ability to build teams and work collaboratively. The role will also involve occasional national and international travel so a driving licence and passport are desirable.
