Alex Tosney is recruiting for a Manufacturing Process Engineer to work within a manufacturing environment for a Materials (Composites) company that manufacture a range of industrial fabrics and materials. The Manufacturing Process Engineer will work on their site in Cambridge on a permanent basis.

The primary responsibility of the Manufacturing Process Engineer will be to lead research and technology activity on manufacturing technology development

Further responsibilities include:
- Developing and implementing novel manufacturing technologies from design stage, through specification and to installation and commissioning
- Managing implementation of novel manufacturing technologies in full scale
- Initiating, justifying and managing projects within Manufacturing Innovation group and in cross-functional and cross-sites dimension
- Planning project budgets with manager support
- Making active use of risk management tools in project work
- Managing and meeting multiple deadlines, ensuring on-time and on-budget completion
- Contributing to strategic Research and Technology targets through management of academic and intellectual property searches in aid of inventions and patenting processes.
- Engaging actively in safe working practices
- Undertaking champion tasks in areas including 5s, LEAN and Continuous Improvement
- Communicating effectively as necessary to all levels within the organization and with relevant external contacts including vendors, suppliers and industrial bodies
- Maintaining detailed reporting and management oriented presentations
- Applying relevant statistical tools and methodology to project activity
- Engaging with technical community and facilitate cross-functional activity
- Leading by example to cultivate and maintain a culture built on teamwork and the highest level of personal ethics

As a Manufacturing Process Engineer, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Strong Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls) and Science (Physics, Chemistry, Material Science) background
- Ideally educated to PhD or MSc level in one of the above disciplines
- Relevant industrial experience in composite technology
- Relevant industrial experience of web conversion processes
- Project management skills and experience
- Willing and able to travel 10% of the time
- Knowledge and experience of Six Sigma tools and methodology is desirable
- Oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to take initiative, maintain confidentiality, meet deadlines, and work in a team environment is essential
