Completes troubleshooting, repairs and rebuilds on engine products in a service workshop independently while coaching and developing less experienced technicians
Applies documented procedures and policies to perform diagnostics and complex repairs
Performs preventative maintenance based on assessment of engine
Completes required documentation, such as work completed documents, time sheets, warranty claims and quality forms, via handwritten or business system input screens
Completes training in line with skill and business requirements
Coaches and develops technicians and/or apprentices and transfers knowledge and experience to others; may provide work direction; may review repair plans, parts lists, etc
Maintains work area and tools for cleanliness and proper operation
Adheres to and ensures adherence of more junior technicians to all relevant Health, Safety & Environmental policies, procedures and legislation and reports any issues / incidents to their supervisor Perform all duties adhering to Cummins Safety Policies and Procedures
Provide excellent internal/external customer support encompassing "Customer Support Excellence" philosophy and standards
Perform troubleshooting and complete repair on engines, chassis and sub-assemblies within a reasonable and expected time frame while maintaining a high level of quality workmanship
Efficiently remove and install engines in equipment chassis
Efficiently remove and install components on engines, in and out of chassis
Efficiently Rebuild engine components
Accurately document the work performed
Successfully complete all Cummins required training courses
Participation in actively keeping work areas clean and safe at all times
Adherence to the Cummins Business Code of Conduct including setting an example of ethical behavior
Effectively create, maintain, and develop positive internal/external customer relationships
Maintain adequate personal tooling
Other duties as assigned

Skill Level A
Level II Technician plus:
Ability to train Service Personnel to develop their diagnostic skills
Able to identify opportunities for work process improvements and recommend appropriate action
Able to develop and maintain productive working relationships
Ability to prepare reports providing feedback on service interventions

Skill Level B
Skill Level A plus:
Ability to identify and resolve engine system failures relating to and impacted by component failure
Ability to guide / coach other service technicians through complex service interventions and diagnostic issues
Can resolve complex technical problems
Ability to identify and up sell further service and repair opportunities.
Education, Licenses, Certifications:

Apprentice Trained Engine Technician (Preferred)
Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution (Preferred)
Locally valid driving permit (Preferred)


Advanced level knowledge of and/or experience with engine products
Experience providing technical advice and coaching to more junior technicians (preferred) Functional/Technical Qualifications:

Detailed knowledge and understanding of diesel engine theory and operation
Ability to use computer and windows based programs such as Quick Serve On-line, INSITE, and others
Able to accurately read and follow instructions
Strong communication skills (verbal/written)
Have own tools and toolbox
Excellent customer service skills
Able to read electrical schematics
Commercial Driver's license ( preferred )
Requires the ability to effectively and efficiently manage work load
Willingness to learn from co-workers and train less experienced Technicians as necessary

Physical Requirements:

Requires ability to safely lift up to 25 pounds often, up to 75 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on occasion using proper lifting tools/techniques.

Tasks will require bending, stretching, standing, twisting, climbing up and down on equipment throughout the work shift
Safely operate power tools and equipment while machining, lifting engines or components
Work environment requires Technician to wear identified PPE at all times
