Our client a leading name within the Building and Engineering Industry, are looking to appoint a Health & Safety Advisor to their team in Northampton.

Reporting to the Group Safety Manager, you will use your knowledge and skills to help promote and encourage a positive Health & Safety culture in the workplace.
You will be responsible for ensuring the company and workers comply with all safety policies, legislation and practices are adhered to.


* Carry out risk assessments and consider how risks could be reduced
* Outline safe operational procedures which identify and take into account all relevant hazards;
* Carry out regular site inspections to check policies and procedures are being properly implemented;
* Ensure working practices are safe and comply with legislation;
* Assist the Group Safety Manager and board to prepare health and safety strategies and develop internal policy;
* Lead in-house training with managers and employees about health and safety issues and risks;
* Keep records of inspection findings and produce reports that suggest improvements;
* Record incidents and accidents and produce statistics for managers;
* Keep up to date with new legislation and maintain a working knowledge of all Health and Safety Executive (HSE) legislation and maintain any developments that affect construction;
* Undertake continuing professional development;
* Produce management reports, newsletters and bulletins;
* Ensure equipment is installed safely/ fit for purpose;
* Manage and organise the safe disposal of hazardous substances, e.g. asbestos;
* Advise on a range of specialist areas, e.g. fire regulations, hazardous substances, noise, safeguarding machinery and occupational diseases


* Previous experience as a Health & Safety Advisor
* NEBOSH or L5 qualification is essential for this role
* Experience of working within construction is essential
* Be able to travel reasonable distances and conduct site walks
* Excellent communication skills
