Main purpose of job:
Responsible for the test, repair, validation and calibration of production products and customer returns to serve the business needs and objectives of the Company.
Duties & responsibilities: -
• Test, inspect, calibrate and/or validate electronic products in accordance with controlled written test procedures and achieve the production delivery targets.
• Test, fault-find and repair production and customer return failures; diagnosing faults on a modular level; from PCB assembly through to finished product.
• Accurately record/communicate company & product data to the Company Quality Management System standards.
• Liaise with Design/Engineering as required.
• General soldering (lead-free) skills, understanding the relevant IPC standards.
• Maintain acceptable housekeeping standards to ensure an organised, clean & safe working environment for all employees.
• Comply with all health and safety requirements as stipulated within standard operating procedures & company procedures.
• Understand and implement the necessary anti-static precautions.
• Involvement/participation in team projects & process improvement initiatives, including the company's Continuous Improvement programme.
• Identify & report process improvement opportunities.
• Any other duties deemed necessary for the benefit of the company by management.
Knowledge, skills & experience required (Essential): -
• Prior experience of working within a similar small to medium volume electronics manufacturing environment or similar.
• Familiar with the use of basic test equipment such as digital multi-meters, bench power supplies and other general instruments.
• Familiarity with basic electronic components and their in-circuit functionality.
• Basic skills with soldering and assembly/dis-assembly of electro-mechanical devices.
• P.C. literate on Windows-based applications; able to use Microsoft Word and Excel.
Knowledge, skills & experience required (Desirable): -
• Ability to read and interpret written work instructions, test procedures & drawings.
• Able to work from circuit diagrams and engineering drawings.
• Knowledge and application of company procedures & product quality standards.
• Familiar with workmanship standards and national standards for soldering.
• Demonstrate skills in use of basic automatic test equipment (ATE).
• Applicants should ideally possess a nationally recognized qualification in an electronic discipline e.g. ONC, Modern Apprenticeship or similar technical qualification, or should have strong proven technical skills gained through relevant experience.
• Basic skills with soldering and assembly/dis-assembly of electro-mechanical devices.

Note - A new employee would not initially be expected to possess all the above attributes. However, they would be expected, with adequate training, to achieve the majority of them within a reasonable time scale.
Working hours:
• Dayshift operations.
• A standard working week is 37.5 hours with a standard working day of 7.5 hours.
• However, working hours may change with reasonable notice to suit the needs of the business. All employees will be given reasonable notification of any changes.
• Start time no earlier than 7:30am and finish time no later than 5pm (unless overtime dictates). Lunch 0.5 hour
