Principal Design Engineer urgently required with a background in off-highway vehicle structures design, development and manufacture.|
You will be joining a leading off-highway vehicle manufacturer as a Principal level Design Engineer and will take responsibility for the design and development of off-highway vehicle structures - from initial concept to on-line manufacture.
As a Principal Design Engineer, you will ideally have knowledge of whole vehicle design and development, gained within the off-highway or specialist vehicle sector and will take a lead role in the design of main excavator fabrications. You will be capable of working on your own but also able to lead a small design team on larger programmes, working closely with sales and marketing, purchasing and manufacturing to deliver designs to production.
You will be experienced in leading designs, executing hand calculations and be comfortable working from an engineering brief as well as arrangement models. A good understanding of fabrications, geometric drawing and tolerancing is essential. An understanding of finite element analysis using ANSYS would be advantageous.
You must be able to interpret standards related to off highway mobile machinery and apply these to your own work.
You should be Capable of presenting to small groups of people both formally and informally in a confident effective manner.
You will have prior experience and full understanding of Engineering Sign Off process and criteria and be capable of compiling engineering sign-off data.
You will be confident in championing projects and chairing meetings to ensure smooth and effective management and be able to lead significant Design and Development projects / programmes, including budgets and timing plans.
Skills and Attributes Summary:
Preferably Chartered Engineer.

Full understanding and guardian of ESO and NPIP
Understanding of quality and manufacturing systems and functions.
Ability to work as part of a Global team interacting with engineers at other sites worldwide.
Good understanding of manufacturing techniques - profiling, weld assemblies, machining, castings, forgings and able to apply this to the design
5 years minimum relevant experience
