ATA are proud to be working in partnership with a leading infrastructure contractor seeking an experienced but also ambitious Commercial Manager for their highway maintenance team, primary base North West. Due to a restructure in the highways business unit, our client is now in a position of recruiting a Commercial Manager to lead a skilled commercial team dedicated to various local authority and Highways England maintenance contracts across the North and Midlands. This division has significantly grown, building relationships and working agreements with various local authorities, and as a business are keen to continue capitalising on existing agreements as well as venture out and secure further business. As Commercial Manager you will take a crucial role, being the leading force along with the Operations Director in ensuring effective commercial delivery to the existing portfolio as well as contribute to growing a successful team.
At present the commercial team is 10 strong varying in expertise and experience; this is set to grow with various game changing tenders in place in which you along with the Operations Director will determine the direction of this team. This is a strategic role, requiring an individual keen to take their career to the next level. Key responsibilities include:
Outsource and develop project strategies, identifying further business opportunities as well as the risks that come with.
Oversee overall spend and return of the division, optimising cash flow through evaluations and reports.
Provide cost reports and forecasts to the Financial Department as well as the board of directors.
Plan and develop staff regarding current and prospective workloads, as well as actively encouraging further development and training.
Establish and maintain relationships with existing clients as well as building relationships with new prospective clients.
With aspiring plans for growth within the division, our client is looking for an energetic and dynamic individual that has shared motivations to take this team to the next level. Whilst prior experience in highways would be an advantage, our client is open to individuals with framework experience in other environments who are interested in transferring their skills into this market.
Experience and Qualifications required:
Experience leading a commercial team within frameworks in civil engineering - i.e. rail, water, waste/water, environment, structures, airports etc.
Ideally degree qualified or HNC/HND with equivalent experience
Ideally professionally qualified
Strong leadership attributes
