My client, a local authority based in Leicestershire is looking for a Building Control Surveyor to join their team.|
This is a full time, temporary role on and ongoing contract and the successful candidate will hold an appropriate qualification in building or surveying, or will have appropriate experience in a similar Building Control role.
The successful candidate will also have a full UK drivers license and access to
The main responsibilities of the role will be as follows;
To check and process Building Regulation applications, dangerous structure notifications, and demolition notices
To inspect building works to ensure that such works comply with the requirements of the Building Regulations, structures that are reported as dangerous, and sites subject to demolition notices
To investigate reports of unauthorised or defective work (Building Regulations), and take timely and appropriate action.
To provide pre-application advice
In association with other team members, to actively promote and market the Councils Building Control service to ensure the financial viability of the team.
To attend court as a witness when required in cases relating to contravention's of the Building Regulations, dangerous structures, and any other legislation administered by the section
Attend dangerous structures out of hours, for which additional payment will be made
The other responsibilities included in this Building Control Officer role will be as follows;
Plan checking a wide range of Building Regulation applications, including providing pre-application advice.
Carrying out site inspections to determine compliance with Building Regulations.
Regularly working with customers to deliver compliance through suggesting alternative solutions to problems.
Dealing with dangerous structures, including taking formal enforcement action through the magistrates court, and responding to out of hours requests
Marketing or promoting the "fee earning" service to potential customers to attract and retain work.
Working with others to ensure consistency in terms of interpreting legislation and guidance.
