Company & Project: Top 10 main contractor operating in the Commercial, Education, Leisure & Retail sectors on a national basis, are seeking to recruit an experienced an effective Quantity Surveyor to complement their Commercial Management team, based in Cambridgeshire.
Our client has an enviable track record in the Cambridge market and have delivered projects ranging from £5m to £40m in this area for over 50 years, in addition to being part of a national office network.
The senior management team is well respected for its effective leadership, employee development, and business acumen, which has led to the business achieving year-on-year growth for 8 of the past 10 financial periods.
Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will take responsibility for managing all daily commercial management functions, including but not limited to; measurement & valuations, applications for payment, reconciling accounts, dealing with sub-contract orders and enquiries, through to practical completion of the project and settling final accounts.
Previous experience in managing projects £3m+ as No1 QS is essential, along with a strong working knowledge of assisting with CVR's and monthly reporting.
The projected profit, cash-flow and margin realisation is the key responsibility for surveyors in this business, as such it is expected that the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate a strong track record in each of these areas.
Starting on a £12m D&B school project under JCT form of contract, you will have a soft landing reporting the the Senior QS on the job, upon completion in 2017 you will then move onto running jobs self sufficiently.
* Minimum 5 years+ experience as a QS on Construction projects in excess of £3m.
* Good knowledge of JCT contracts for Design & Build projects.
* Excellent negotiation skills and previous experience procuring subcontractors.
* Strong track interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, along with the clear ambition to run projects as No 1 QS on site.
* Adept with achieving projected profit on large construction projects.
* Previous Roles: Quantity Surveyor OR Project QS OR Assistant Quantity Surveyor.
Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management from a recognised institution at 2:1 or better. MRICS or MCIOB advantageous.
