Company & Project: Top 10 main contractor operating in the Commercial, Education, Leisure & Retail sectors on a national basis, are seeking to recruit an talented and ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor to complement their Commercial Management team, based in Cambridgeshire.
Our client has an enviable track record in the Cambridge market and have delivered projects ranging from £5m to £40m in this area for over 50 years, in addition to being part of a national office network.
The senior management team is well respected for its effective leadership, employee development, and business acumen, which has led to the business achieving year-on-year growth for 8 of the past 10 financial periods.
Duties & Responsibilities: The successful candidate will support a Senior QS within the business, helping to manage all daily commercial management functions, including but not limited to; measurement & valuations, applications for payment, reconciling accounts, and dealing with sub-contract orders.
Previous experience in commercial management for construction projects £3m+ as is essential, along with a working knowledge of daily commercial management functions.
Starting on a £12m D&B school project under JCT form of contract, you will have a soft landing reporting the the Senior QS responsible for the project.
* Previously worked for a Main Contractor with a reputable name in the building/construction industry.
* Minimum 3 years+ experience as a QS on Construction projects in excess of £3m.
* Excellent negotiation skills and previous experience procuring subcontractors.
* Strong track interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, along with the clear ambition to run projects as No 1 QS on site, in the future.
* Previous Roles: Quantity Surveyor OR Assistant Quantity Surveyor OR Trainee Quantity Surveyor.
Qualifications & Skills: Degree in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management from a recognised institution at 2:1 or better. MRICS or MCIOB advantageous.
