Our client is a global leader in Rolling Stock vehicle manufacturing, service and maintenance.
We are looking for a high level Electrical Engineer to work on rolling stock (DMU trains) based out of a depot in Derby. The role is geared around carrying out fault investigation work on trains in service and covers all systems of which examples would be: doors, HVAC, driver controls, lighting, PIS (passenger information systems), engine and traction systems.
This position will be around 90% based in a maintenance office environment with the further 10% of the time hands on in the depot. This is an electrically biased position with a requirement for mechanical understanding as the vehicles are driven via a diesel engine.
The successful applicant will have to investigate faults from technical data, from their own data analysis, from communication with technicians in the field and maintenance engineers on depot. Once the data has been collated / analysed, this has to be reported along with supporting information / evidence such as photos. This information is then communicated to internal management and to the customer.
Another element to the role is actual hands on fault finding / investigation, when on occasions you'll be asked to go out into the depot to advise technicians on how to resolve issues and to resolve them yourself.
Ideal candidates would be from a Rolling Stock / Rail background but other industries may be considered
