About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM is seeking a Senior Planner for the Impact Assessment and Permitting group, focusing on environmental planning and assessment practice in New York City.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Managing a variety of projects for both public and private clients - These projects represent a wide range of development initiatives for lead agencies such as the NYC Department of City Planning, NYC Board of Standards and Appeals and NYC Fire Department, among others; projects will also include a variety of NYS SEQRA and NEPA initiatives
  • Managing project teams including technical staff and sub-consultants; mentoring/supervising associate staff members; and assisting with overall group administration
  • Direct client interaction, proactive business development, and the preparing competitive proposals responding to RFPs/RFQs

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Urban Planning, Political, Science, Public Policy/Public Administration, Economic Development or Geography or related field
  • 5 years of experience
  • Ability to maintain direct client interaction
  • Track record in winning work through the preparation of proposals responding to RFPs/RFQs
  • Experience in managing teams of in-house analysts and sub-consultants to prepare environmental documents
  • Deep knowledge of New York City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR), New York State Environmental Quality Review (SEQRA) and NEPA
  • Excellent business writing, analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and time management skills, as well as the ability to multitask and work within deadlines

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree
  • AICP preferred
