About the Business Line
Our team of environment specialists offers clients expertise in air quality, impact analysis and permitting, environmental health and safety management consulting/due diligence, remediation consulting/engineering and construction/site restoration, specialty and emerging technologies, waste services and water and natural resources.

Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Construction Engineer for immediate employment in the Newark, DE office. The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in construction projects serving as a site Manager / inspector. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects. The incumbent can look forward to projects including chemical, municipal and state agency clients.

A combination of the following responsibilities working independently on assignments:
  • Using prescribed methods, performs specific assignments
  • Support the preparation of drawings and visual aids
  • Provide support to Project Managers in the areas of; submittal review, design support, schedule preparation / updating, compliance support for AECOM's Quality Management System
  • Assistance with proposals to provide services or obtain funding for engineering projects or programs
  • Plans and prepares, or reviews technical specifications according to the contract documents
  • Travel Requirement: 100% or as required by projects
  • Work will include: verifying applicable codes and engineering standards / practices are being met

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or construction management
  • 2 years of experience in construction oversight
  • Capable of functioning with spreadsheets, word processing and standard office software
  • Construction and project related experience, including interfacing with contractors for pre-construction, construction and startup / commissioning phases
  • Ability to multi-task and meet project deadlines
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills
  • Knowledge of the installation and construction techniques required in the field and the potential obstacles that may be encountered
  • Ability to work with other disciplines at various locations, both internal and external to DCS, with a customer service focus
  • Knowledge of risk identification and mitigation
  • Knowledge of appropriate materials, methods, and tools to construct objects, structures and buildings
  • Knowledge of inputs, outputs, raw materials, waste, quality control, costs and techniques for effective oversight of construction activities
  • Knowledge of safety and security operations, including rules, regulations, precautions, prevention, as well as the protection of people, data and property
  • Thorough knowledge of contract administration and office procedures
  • Ability to lead others and make sound judgment
  • Capable of interpreting / reading drawings (civil, mechanical and electrical)
  • Ability to understand and direct both construction surveying and geophysical surveying
  • This position requires the flexibility to serve as a cross-disciplinary resource to best serve the needs of the AECOM Corporation
