TECHNICAL OPERATOR (WEST MIDLANDS) 12 HOUR SHIFT PATTERN, SALARY £20-24K PLUS GREAT BENEFITS SUCH AS BONUS, PENSION, HEALTHCARE, OVERTIME AND POTENTIAL FOR FUTURE PROGRESSION. LARGE COMPANY WITH OVER £1BN TURNOVER. MECHANICAL ENGINEERING SKILLS ESSENTIAL.|
Our client is part of a huge company and a wide range of products for the household industry. As part of their continued growth they are presently seeking an Operations Technician.
To maintain the good housekeeping of equipment
Involvement in shift change meeting.
Be involved in problem solving.
Complete value added activities as requested by Shift Supervisor.
To do running repairs without supervision on all equipment and where appropriate take direction for prioritisation from the shift manager.
Address the root cause of any failure, take the appropriate action to resolve and feedback learning/observations to enable processes to be improved thus preventing future repeat failures.
To contact engineers on call in case of any breakdowns or problems to communicate issues and take advice on effective solutions.
To progress any outstanding work and pass onto following Operation Technician.
During machine shutdown periods to participate in scheduled planned maintenance activities.
Undergo such training as may be required by the Company and adapt to alterations in working methods, systems and procedures as may be dictated by technological changes or reorganisation within the Company.
To cover, in addition to the above, other areas of responsibility as required (eg: in the event of the absence of colleagues or in the event that extra help is required at that particular time).
Carry out all operations by the safest possible manner
Adhere to Company policies and procedures as required appertaining to Safety, Personnel, Training, Quality, environment and where appropriate, union agreements.
Ensure at all times a high standard of cleanliness throughout the plant including crew/control area.
To contribute positively to the well-being of the Company.
To maintain the confidentiality of the Company in all dealings with people from external sources.
If the need arises, to be prepared to work at other sites owned or leased by the Company.
Carry out any reasonable and lawful instruction from a management representative.
Maintain good housekeeping
Essential Skills & Experience Required
- Have experience of carrying out maintenance work
- Minimum level 2 qualification in engineering
- Operating equipment and excellent housekeeping
- Have experience of manufacturing environment - FMCG or high speed packaging preferred
- Must have good communication skills and be a team player
- Self motivated and pro-active
