Our client a large aerospace company based in Bideford are looking for a Composited specialist to work as a Production Engineer.|
Composite Production knowledge
Provide a professional and efficient engineering service to the Advanced Composite area in order for them to meet internal & external customer requirements and operational budgets/targets

• Routing accuracy.
In conjunction with the Senior Composite engineer, provide technical Composite support and costings for the integration of new composite products to the business unit. This will include but is not limited to:
• Compile costing sheets for quotes
• Material and process selection (worked with many types of materials)
• Development and proofing of manufacturing process
• Final sign off and formal handover to production
• Tooling design and validation (for pre-preg, wet, lam, RI, RTM)
• Composite performance prediction
• Detail composite components and tooling concepts
Develop, implement and maintain systems for ensuring routing accuracy at all times.
Co-ordinate and accelerate contract review documentation for relevant process group, ensuring information is accurate.
Responsible for delivering a balanced decision making process on cost, quality and risk to ensure targets are met with no business exposure.
Actively work with employees, line managers and production engineers to improve existing processes and operations through better working practices and new technology.
Develop product information (Shop pack, layup books, drawings instruction manuals etc.) to ensure that manufacturing have all the information required at hand in a clear and standardised manner to ensure manufacturing mistakes are minimised.
Document all projects to demonstrate ‘before and after’ and provide regular detailed updates to the Senior Composite Engineer of current and future projects.
Assist in the specification and justification of capital equipment necessary for the development and growth of the Advanced Composite Business Unit.
Ensuring knowledge of modern composite manufacturing technologies is kept current and disseminated within the business so that Anglo is always able to offer a modern cost effective solution to our customers.
Interface with both current and prospective customers and propose technical solutions to manufacture/design enquiries.
Assist in developing other personal by communicating knowledge of engineering processes in a structured and concise manner.
Travelling to external locations/contacts are a part of this role, as an ambassador of Anglo, conduct at all times must be nothing short of professional and courteous.
Develop ‘Best Practice Methodologies’ throughout Advanced Composites.
Increase your knowledge of modern manufacturing technologies/principles to ensure that the most up-to-date practices/ methodologies are used at all times.
Ensure all areas of responsibility operate within the requirements of ISO9000, QS9000, TS16949 and SC21. Where necessary propose improvements to quality systems and ensure all personnel under your jurisdiction are fully conversant with the quality standards of the company and operate to those standards
Ensure a safe working environment for all employees under your jurisdiction
Encourage good lines and levels of communications and a working environment where all employees feel part of the business and are aware, where appropriate, of what is going on. Develop an open style at all levels of the business to allow a free flow of ideas and suggestions such that all employees feel that they have a part to play at that their honest contribution will be appreciated. Support a ‘Quality’ driven culture where employees understand the need to produce products and services right first time. Explain the cost of not doing so in terms of lost customers, reduced morale, labour, overdues, materials etc. Make contributions to improve the quality standing of the business.
Support the Senior Composite Engineer to facilitate training throughout your department to ensure that there is flexibility within the Company, as demand fluctuates between departments, to ensure effectivity and capability in maintaining and meeting targets. It is policy that career progression can occur within the business for those that demonstrate the aptitude, work ethic and commitment necessary.
Where appropriate assist with stocktaking.
Ensure that where appropriate and cost effective, the latest technology is applied. This will reduce the business’s reliance on the vagaries of the labour market and ensure that we operate the business in the most cost-effective manner. The Company has to be protected as much as possible from the fact that, in a global market, labour costs will be higher in the UK than elsewhere in the world and to be competitive we need to be technologically driven rather than totally reliant on labour.
Carry out any other duties as requested by management as long as the requests are reasonable and do not put in danger yourself or any other employee/member of the public.
Demonstrable relevant industrial experience
Good technical background(minimum HNC level)
“Can do” attitude
Good communication skills with all levels of employee and customer
Experience of quoting
commercial understanding of composites
