Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a highly talented Construction Inspector for immediate employment in our Columbia, SC office. AECOM is proud to provide our employees with exciting, challenging projects.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Monitoring conformance to quality, performance, and/or code requirements by performing inspection duties
  • Performing daily field inspections
  • Maintaining inspection records
  • Participating in punch lists, testing, and commissioning
  • Tracking quality assurance progress
  • Providing input to documentation for area and equipment turnovers
  • Inspecting construction progress which may include ensuring procedures and materials comply with specifications observing work in progress to assure conformance with requirements and acceptable workmanship
  • Reviewing contract plans and specifications for compliance with appropriate building codes and project requirements
  • Observing work for compliance with contract documents Reviewing and responding to shop drawing submittals
  • Responding to request for information, clarifications, proposals, and change orders
  • Assisting with review and reconciliation of construction schedules
  • Scheduling updates and contractor payments
  • Observing or performing testing and reviewing test results for conformance with technical specifications
  • Confirming quantities for pay applications
  • Assisting with verification of project completion milestones and contract closeout/commissioning

Minimum Requirements
  • High School Diploma
  • 2 years of experience in construction inspection or project management
  • Ability to use a personal computer, testing equipment, basic survey equipment, and to retain or gain certifications as needed
  • Ability to gain or retain certifications in the fields of Asphalt, Concrete, Erosion Control, Foundations, and Earthwork
  • Must possess a valid driver's license

Preferred Qualifications

  • A strong communicator who is able to effectively schedule, inspects, and manages a project to ensure compliance with specifications and meet expectations of the Client. Possessing SCDOT certifications in Asphalt Roadway Inspection, Concrete Field Testing technician, Foundations, Earthwork, Drainage and Base Inspection and SCDHEC Erosion Prevention and Sediment Control Inspector
  • Experience with SCDOT specifications and testing procedures required for roadway construction and drainage
