Design Manager
£55,000 -£60,000 dependent on experience

Our client is a Large regional contractor who are now recruiting a Design Manager to lead their design function working closely with the MD both on delivery and tenders.

Job Purpose
Working alongside the Regional Pre-Construction Manager to manage all aspects of design management on numerous tenders and live projects.

Key Deliverables
•Develop, agree and update on a regular basis Information Requirements Schedules. Set deliverables for each consultant and schedule drawings, specifications and other design information required for construction. Ensure information is issued in accordance with the schedule to ensure procurement and construction dates are achieved.
•Under take gap analysis reviews.
•Attend/Chair design team and coordination meetings as necessary.
•Generate Contractors Proposals.
•Undertake design reviews.
•Prepare design section of project reports.
•Monitor and report on design progress, statutory approvals, outstanding information required, subcontractor design, environmental/CDM issues.
•Manage the design change process.
•Manage Building Control, Planning and other requirements requiring discharge and ensure that all approvals are signed off.
•Assist and advise as required with the Health & Safety File and Operating & Maintenance Manuals.
•Review and generate consultancy agreements scope of works.
•Monitor and control the sub-contractor design.
•Monitor progress and status of documents and RFI's within the document control system.
•Assist with bids and pre-qualification work.
•Ensure BREEAM requirements are achieved as part of the design process.
•Assist in production of scopes of work.
•Identify package interfaces.
•Assist in breaking down projects into subcontract packages.
•Assist in selection and interview of subcontractors.
•Review subcontractor tender information.

Qualification & Attributes
•Construction Industry experience required.
•Have a thorough experience and understanding of Single and Two Stage, Design & Build and Traditional types of contract and their requirements.
•To have an understanding of BREEAM requirements
•Have a good knowledge of the construction process.
•Thorough technical knowledge.
•Knowledgeable on Planning and Building Regulation requirements
•Must have experience of a similar role on complex projects up to £20m.
•Be mobile and able to manage multiple projects if required.
•Flexible team member.
•Ability to communicate positively and effectively.
•Technical and design skills.
•Understanding of design and construct process.
•Process driven.
•Good manager of people.
•Ability to work effectively on a number of projects at one time.
•Prioritise the requirement of several Project Managers
