Fantastic opportunity has arisen to join a growing company in Colchester as an Quantity Surveyor

If you are looking for the next step on the QS ladder this could be the ideal opportunity. This could be an exciting opportunity with excellent prospects for the right person.

Good track record ideally experienced with sub contract Carpentry although will consider QS experience in other trades.

The ideal candidate will be hard working and enthusiastic with good communication and numerical skills

The purpose of the role:-

Cost projects and submit tenders
Carry out contract reviews
Conduct valuations and the pricing of variations
In conjunction with the Contracts Manager prepare and monitor client accounts.
Conduct measurements and surveying duties on site
Carry out cost value reconciliations (profit and loss)
Preparation of contract documents
Development of knowledge relevant to contract conditions
Check job costings against quoted figures.
Chase instructions and ensure we have received written instruction from Project QS or Project Manager (authority signature)
File manual site instructions and maintain electronic copies of all contract information on the system
Chase agreement on prices.
Meet with Client (QS) on weekly/fortnightly/monthly basis as project requires.
Ensure applications are completed on time with Contracts Manager
Agree final account with Contracts Manager
Calculate accounts and actively negotiate final accounts and payments
Liaison with other departments within the Company
Liaise with other subcontractors employed by the Company
Liaise and negotiate with the client and members of the professional team
Understand the implications of the Health & Safety Regulations
Attending meetings, both internally and externally, as required.


Good knowledge and understanding of construction activity
Excellent financial and numerical skills and sound commercial awareness
Excellent IT skills
Good communication and negotiating skills
Understanding of building law and regulations, contract law and health and safety law
Good working knowledge of JCT and NEC standard contracts
Car driver Essential

Hours Full - time
20 days holiday plus bank holidays
