Our Client, is currently looking for a design engineer to join their successful engineering department.
The key role of this Design engineering position is to learn and assist: to gain an understanding of
The company's business, products, systems, and procedures; to learn and develop skills which result from the practical application of basic engineering knowledge; and to provide assistance to a project team or others in the work group. Projects will usually be of short duration and work results will affect those working on the same project or assignment. Typically, decisions will impact routine, low risk issues that may affect the project team, suppliers, or internal customers. Challenges include applying theory, learning procedures, and understanding the technology.

An Associate Engineer-Design may work in any number of functional areas requiring an engineering
degree, including, but not limited to, product design, development, research, metallurgy, quality, reliability, materials, manufacturing process, application and installation, product performance/support, service, and facilities.

Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may include any or all of the following: perform needs analysis and initiate ideas; evaluate new products, processes, or systems; communicate results to customers, suppliers, team members, and other business units; contribute to the design of new products and processes; perform product and process maintenance; support other engineers, managers, marketing personnel, customers, and suppliers.
Attention to detail is critical. Uses readily available clear and direct references and provides
Straightforward solutions to problems. Collects and evaluates data and develops plans for assignments. Associate Engineers may expect to have direct contact with other team members, customers and suppliers.
Associate Engineers must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Learning will focus on methods, processes and systems applied to engineering functions, key engineering skills, practical application of theory, communications and building a knowledge of the company's products, suppliers and customers.

Key Roles:
•To design and develop products which meet customer requirements and comply with the appropriate standards.
•To produce detail design solutions and manufacturing drawings from concept designs.
•To design cooling packages by collating correct customer information.
•To be aligned with the Group engineering best practices.
•To produce and meet the metrics or KPI's for the engineering department.

•Tracking projects to ensure on-time, on-budget completion.
•Collate required data from multiple sources to be able to design cooling packages.
•Liaise with key suppliers to ensure accurate and up to date costings are maintained.
•Utilise appropriate tools for sizing of cores, selection of fans and costing of packages, etc.
•Compile Technical Files to support designs.
•Compile and present quotations to customers.
•Cross check designs and quotations from colleagues.
•Comply with the company's ISO9001 quality procedures manual at all times.
•Comply with the company's EH&S procedures at all times.
•Any other reasonable duties requested by the Engineering Manager.

•Knowledge of engineering standards, CE marking and ATEX
•A good understanding of mechanical design principles for fabricated, machined, cast and hand assembled products.
•Experience within a mechanical engineering environment.
•3 years' experience with using CAD programmes.
•5 years' experience of a busy sales or engineering department.
The commencing hourly pay rate for this position will be between £12 and £13 per hour, annual salary likely to be £26,000 should this lead on from temporary to permanent, which is the plan for the right candidate.
