Senior Civil Infrastructure Engineer - London|
We are currently recruiting with one of the leading multi disciplinary consultancies who are looking for a Senior Civil Engineer to join their Development Infrastructure team on a permanent basis. With an excellent portfolio of upcoming projects this is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to achieve Chartership in the near future and gain some management responsibility in a hands on role.
Preferred Qualifications / Education / Work Experience:
You will have substantial post graduate (or equivalent) experience and be working towards Chartership (CEng, MICE, MCIWEM, MCIHT), or have equivalent commercial experience and responsibility. You should be able to demonstrate a comprehensive knowledge of, and experience in highway design (both S38 and S278 design experience), hydraulics and hydrology, flood risk assessment and management, drainage design (S104/S185) and preferably utility design as well as a wide knowledge of the Development Industry.
You will be able to produce masterplans, site appraisals, write reports (mainly Flood Risk Assessments) to support planning applications, produce design calculations and construction drawings. You will have a good knowledge of DMRB, Manual for Streets and Local Authority Design Guides, and well versed in the preparation of drawings for Contract Documents and S278, S104 and S38 Agreements. You should also have a sound knowledge of the National Planning Policy Framework and associated Technical Guidance, of the relevant design codes such as the SuDS Manual and Sewers for Adoption.
You will need to have good written and spoken communication skills and be aware of current and emerging technical and planning guidance on and the various areas of sustainability as for example climate change. You will be able to direct and check the use of relevant software including WINDES and PDS; additional hydraulic modelling experience would be beneficial (e.g. TUFLOW, Infoworks) but not essential. You will also need to have experience of liaison with clients, co-professionals and design teams, and be competent in liaising with highway, water, statutory and local authorities to negotiate the necessary outline and detailed technical approvals.
Business development acumen would be an added benefit.
You will have a good knowledge of the legal processes, planning, design, design software, technical consents process, adoption and contract procedures for the provision of sewers, SUDS, highways and utilities in new developments and regeneration projects and how if, applied effectively, these skills combine to add value to a client`s development proposal. You will also have a robust knowledge of the financial and contractual aspects of planning, bidding, and delivering both large and small projects.
