Service Manager - Wincanton - up to £45k plus bonus (Relocation available)

My Client, a leading supplier of quality garden machinery is looking to recruit a Service Manager to join their successful team. The company pride themselves on giving an exceptional service and as such are looking to recruit a Service Manager who is driven by excellence.

This is the ideal opportunity for a knowledgeable engineering team manager with first class knowledge of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines looking to further their career with a market-leader. You will report into the Managing Director and be managing a team of 8. The role is a key position within the business and you will support over 1,200 valued dealers giving specialist advice and guidance in a technical capacity for exclusive brands such as AL-KO, Mitox, DR and Weibang. The role also involves managing the Retail Service Department.

As a proactive member of the management team you will be required to run an efficient operation, ensuring customer satisfaction at all times, motivating and training all staff to perform whilst developing and improving processes and systems as well as driving the business forward.

The successful Service Manager MUST have:

•Previous experience of managing a team of engineers
•In-depth knowledge of 2 stroke and 4 stroke engines
•Genuine enthusiasm for domestic petrol powered garden machinery
•Knowledge of the methods, materials, tools and techniques used in the repair of garden machinery.
•Excellent telephone manner and customer service skills.
•Able to effectively troubleshoot and provide diagnosis over the telephone on mechanical queries.
•A good level of IT literacy, including MS Excel, Word and Outlook.
•Able to produce a clear documentation of fault finding and solution documentation for customers.
•Experience with the John Deere brand would be beneficial to your application.
•A City & Guilds Level 2, NVQ Level 3, or LTA Level 3 & 4 in agriculture and/or horticultural engineering.
•A sense of urgency to get things done.

Working Hours

Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:30pm
Saturdays (One in two Saturdays during March-June inclusive): 8:30 - 1:00pm (this is offered as time in lieu)
