Overview Reporting to the Lead Hand of Plant Operation and Maintenance, the principal duties of a General Maintenance Technician are performing minor carpentry, plumbing and electrical work, cleaning equipment such as boiler, chiller, cooling tower, etc., changing filters, cleaning and housekeeping of mechanical and electrical rooms, maintenance shops, and central utility plant, transporting material and equipment and assisting trade staff to perform their duty. Responsibilities: General Duties (70%)Unplug sink, toilet, floor drain and roof drain, fix leaking tap, clean grease and plaster NA light bulbs and NA broken ceiling tile, hangs picture, white board, signs and festivity decoration,Clean and maintain housekeeping in mechanical rooms, electrical rooms, maintenance shops, and central utility NA filters in air handling units, exhaust fans, fan coils, compressed air system, closed loop water systems, water treatment system, NA and hangs up whit board, picture frame, signs, washroom accessories, festivity decoration, NA salt, oil, filter, tools, step ladder and NA as a safety watch or assists trades personnel to perform their dutiesKeeping work area orderly, clean and NA proper care in the use of equipment and supplies. Quality Management (15%)Maintains records and information pertinent to work NA PM and routine work orders on the PDA after completing work NA to the departments established policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance and safety NA that due diligence is exercised in the use of equipment and NA guidelines, rules and regulations of health and safety as well as infection control appropriate to the area of workAssists in the coordination of work activity with various client groups in the efficient and effective NA strict adherence to the lock out/tag out policy. Other Duties (15%)Participates in educational programs and in-service NA meetings as NA expected to be available for a certain amount of NA verbal and written reports as NA assigned tasks in a professional and workmanlike NA assigned tasks and close the work orders within time frame given in response time NA the work status with the client groups via central call center within the time frame given in response time NA to the occupational health and safety acts and other legislative NA the department with a positive and professional NA an industry level standard productivity levelPerform other duties consistent with the job classification, as required and as assigned by the supervisor. RequirementsGrade XII DiplomaAny trade certificate1-2 years of experience in a similar roleAbility to read, write and speak English fluentlyKnow how to use computer. Familiar with MS word, excel and database Documented proof of Worker or Supervisor health and safety awareness training, as applicable (as per Ontario's Occupational Health and Safety Act regulations). This training can be provided to the successful candidate if needed.
