This is an exciting opportunity in Columbus, IN for a Chief Enterprise Architect.

The Chief Enterprise Architect (IT Executive) is a senior member of the IT leadership team reporting directly to the VP and Chief Information Officer. This is a key leadership position with overall responsibility and accountability for the Enterprise Architecture and Integrated Common Services across the enterprise. The Chief Enterprise Architect will provide technical vision and bring a detailed understanding on current Global IT trends and technologies that can be applied to the business, creating an overall value for Cummins, Inc.

The Chief Enterprise Architect will lead a team of 8 leaders within Integrated Common Services that are focused on Architecture, Development Services, Data Services, Integration Services and BI & Analytics. The overall team within Common Services is approximately 100 employees.

Key Responsibilities include and are not limited to the following:

  • IT Development focused IT leader serving as leader over an Integrated Common Services for Cummins Global IT
  • Accountable for the design and development of Common IT Services for the enablement of the Integrated Digital Hub
  • Responsible for the planning and development of the Integrated Common Services for Cummins IT which is organized in the following areas: Enterprise Architecture Services, Development Services, Data Services, Integration Services and BI & Analytics

  • Architecture Governance & facilitation of working groups (Architecture Review Board, Technology Review Board, Solution Architecture Reviews , Participant in M-gate reviews)
  • Includes enterprise, solution, technology and application architecture.
  • Steward of Enterprise Reference Architecture and Architecture standards
  • Technology industry market research

Development Services
  • Development Tooling (research, selection, configuration, packaging, training, how-to guides)
  • Owns Development Tooling vendor relationships
  • Development Environments (standards, configuration, support interface to Engineering and Operations, creation/archiving/deletion support)
  • Software Configuration & Build Management
  • Testing Tools & Environment Management
  • Developer Enablement

Data Services

  • Owner of Data Tools (modeling, DBMS, etc) selection, configuration, deployment packaging and vendor relationship
  • Creator and steward of the Data Architecture & Enterprise Logical Data Model, and Data Standards

Middleware, Integration, & Transaction Services

  • Design, configuration, and deployment packaging of all middleware tools and environments
  • Owns middleware tooling vendor relationship
  • Creates, deploys, and supports Development Frameworks for Monitoring & Logging, Instrumentation, Synthetic Transactions and Communications

BI & Analytics

  • Facilitator of Enterprise Data Governance groups

  • Participate as a key member of the IT Senior Leadership Team and responsible for a significant global IT area.
  • Provides enterprise-wide direction on the use of emerging technologies for Cummins Global IT. Stays current on new technologies and platforms.
  • Establishes and maintains collaborate, supportive, open and professional working relationships with a variety of executives, management and team members.
  • Responsible for financial management including Annual Operating Plan, budget management, and forecasting for a significant budget area.
  • Responsible for People Management including work plan development, performance management, and people development
  • Responsible for team building and development including organization structure, recruiting, global team management
  • Establishes and manages strategic vendor and partner relationships and ensures the organization is aware of and prepared for changes in technology.
  • Compile and present Management Reports on team performance including metrics and deliverable status
  • Accountable for Six Sigma training, usage and goal attainment for the team
  • Ensure team adherence to all IT processes, policies, and procedures including IT Security
  • Responsible for IT Controls compliance for the team
  • Engagement with customers in their respective function or business area
  • Governance/Leadership for all program/projects executed or supported by their teams

College, university, or equivalent degree in Information Technology, Business or a related subject required
