Title: Quantity Surveyor
Reports to: Managing Director
Based at: Office based
To plan, manage and execute the overall purchasing and financial control of site contracting activities; to ensure the timely delivery of materials and services to enable contracts to be completed on time, within budget, to the required quality standard and in accordance with current Health & Safety legislation. Protect the Company?s financial position whilst maintaining and developing relationships with clients to ensure repeat business.
Key responsibilities and accountabilities:
? Ensure all sub contract orders are placed in a timely manner to ensure delivery within the programme. Implement and use the new computerised sub contract order forms.
? Ensure all supplier orders are placed in a timely manner to ensure delivery within the programme. Track orders and deliveries by use of a spreadsheet and provide up to date information to the Contracts Department on a weekly basis.
? Word process all replies to contract correspondence as required or requested, presenting the Company in a professional manner, protecting the Company from any potential risk and ensuring a clear flow of communication to all relevant departments.
? Report on progress of subcontractors at regular intervals as agreed with the client and the Contracts Director, informing of any potential delays on a weekly basis.
? Respond to and effectively deal with all instructions, from client or internally, ensuring all relevant people are fully informed.
? Utilise the contract programme to ensure prompt deliveries of materials, sufficient resources and sequence of installation for sub contractors.
? Check, agree and sign off all sub contract payments including fitters pay. Ensure the prompt payment of all sub contractors to ensure continuity on site whilst protecting the Company?s financial position. Monitor and report on installation numbers on a weekly basis and provide relevant management information.
? Maintain and report on delays, non - compliance, rectification, inspection, snagging and hand-over on a weekly basis.
? Maintain a record of all site instructions (verbal to be confirmed by CVI), and report on a weekly basis of where these and any other changes effect progress and profitability.
? Contact each Contracts Manager on a weekly basis ensuring sufficient supplies and sub contract resource are available to maintain progress and profitability.
? Monitor the scaffold log on a weekly basis to ensure no over runs on scaffold hire. Report on any potential over run costs and minimise the company?s exposure to these.
? Manage order requisition in accordance with the Company procedure.
? Ensure snagging, if not carried out promptly by the original sub contractor is charged to them. Provide non-conformance details by means of exception reporting.
? Manage the Company?s Health & Safety requirements: - ensure relevant method statements and risk assessments are provided to satisfy the Health and Safety Department before allowing commencement of work on site.
? Provide reports, standard forms and any data requested by the Company in a precise and prompt manner.
? Provide non-conformance reports on all failed or damaged products, deliveries or services.
? Operate within the Company?s recognised systems and procedures, protecting the Company?s interests in all business activities.
