The Java Developer will join an Oxford-based company at the forefront of the UK internet, playing a pivotal role in the provision of internet services for the past 20 years. Following a major re-branding, the Java Developer will be joining during an exciting time of change and innovation. The Java Developer will be joining a small, close-knit team, developing and maintaining a high-availability, Java-based platform and associated software applications. With a passionate and supportive manager, the team work in an open, collaborative environment, with some exciting projects and challenges ahead. With a strong movement towards progressive innovation, the team is becoming more agile and introducing new technologies, tools and concepts. From day one, the Java Developer can expect exposure to Java 8 as development moves from Java 6 to Java 8, to be involved in greenfield development as a complete rewrite of a core application takes place and also the opportunity to work with microservices architecture.
What do I need?
My client is seeking an experienced Java Developer, not only with solid skills, but with evidence of fresh ideas/thinking and a passion for innovation, as they constantly seek to "raise the bar" within the team and company. Whilst you're likely to have excellent technical knowledge across a broad range of technologies, key areas for the Java Developer include:
• Solid Java development experience with Java 6, with any exposure to Java 8 beneficial
• Experience with Spring and Hibernate/ORM frameworks
• Oracle PL/SQL skills
