Working for this successful global Integrated FM provider, as Technical Author, you will support the Hard Services / Building Services delivery team to deliver Job Plan task descriptions. The company is currently rolling out a Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) focus across their global client portfolio, and the work you do will be based on reliability best practice, statutory and equipment maintenance standards, in line with local country requirements.
You will document technical best practice processes while supporting the implementation teams with guidance, training, standards and procedures. This role will provide a key technical and quality systems link between subject matter experts and the company's Engineering / Knowledge Centre, ensuring the practical development and implementation of the CBM programme.

Overview of the role -
• Develop and implement engineering maintenance best practice job plan task descriptions, based on:
oReliability condition based best practice - technology based
oVisual inspection and basic care tasks
oLocal country statutory requirements
oInvasive general planned maintenance
• Ownership of the global CBM Job Plan library
• Drive the standardisation of reliability and predictive base maintenance tasks as a business differentiator
• Provide engineering operational teams with best practice guidance and procedure to ensure optimisation of operational efforts. Lean elimination of duplicated or repetitive efforts.
• Support a reliability best practice centre of excellence, providing systems, guidance and support to operational teams
• Provide maintenance management assessment to allow Account teams to deliver change programs against well founded justification
• Build a strong professional partnership between the Engineering / Knowledge Bureau and Operational teams ensuring a single minded approach, built on demonstrated support
• Ensure compliance with all legislative requirements in accordance with the Environmental Health & Safety policy, quality, sustainability and energy efficiency related standards
• Provide business development and marketing materials
• Provide Procedures and Standards as required to enable global Transition, Account and Operational teams to deliver the CBM programme in a unified and consistent manner.
• The role will also be instrumental in developing Marketing and other Account and new business materials.

Essential duties -
• Deliver unified job plans, procedures, standards and programme materials to ensure Account based teams are working towards a coordinated best in class CBM delivery solution
• Be responsible for providing technical documentation and continuous process improvement for engineering, safety and business critical assets
• Support Operational teams to standardise engineering practices
• Support Operational teams with the collation and evaluation of asset maintenance information to produce effective maintenance management models
• Support the development of unified Change Management, Impact assessment, Risk assessment, Transition and Handover procedures
• Provide specialist support to other members of the team
• Manage technical support to CBM Subject Matter Experts, Accounts and Transition teams, co-ordinating design review processes as necessary.

Skills required -
• Sound knowledge of maintenance management best practice
• Sound knowledge of various engineering disciplines e.g. electrical, mechanical, heating and cooling systems
• Sound knowledge of various engineering principles & regulatory standards
• Excellent documentation and technical authoring capability
• Experience in delivery of change programmes
• Ability to work to own initiative and as part of a large team with minimal supervision
• Experience in dealing with suppliers/contractors
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good oral, written and presentational skills
• Self-motivated and able to work under pressure to balance conflicting deadlines
• Proactive with the ability to influence and motivate a technical professional team
• Commercially astute and able to prepare, articulate and present a sound business case
• Sound knowledge of EHS to IOSH level
• Good understanding of engineering principles, methods and information, including:
oRegulations, Codes of Practice, British and European Standards
oCorporate Standards/Design Guides/Design Safety Principles
oIdentification and interpretation of design, operating and maintenance data

• Practical working knowledge of best practice maintenance tools and techniques
• Systematic approach, with good attention to detail
• Mature customer service ethic and a flexible approach to meeting client requirements
• Ability to be flexible with working hours, as the role may on occasions require work out of hours

• A professional manager with minimum 10 yrs experience in Engineering
• Comprehensive mechanical and electrical engineering experience, undertaking reactive and planned preventative maintenance
• Sound understanding and experience of meeting health and safety obligations with regard to maintenance activities
• Experience of working in IFM environment with a proven track record of compliance
• Excellent I.T skills
