The Performance Development Engineer will serve as an experienced, individual contributor for engine emissions and performance development projects. Specific assignments are complex in nature and support the performance and emissions development of our clients engine products.
This is an initial 12 month contract position offering a very competitive LTD hourly rate based in Peterborough.
* Requires an accredited engineering degree or equivalent experience and excellent analytical skills.
* Incumbents must have gained +2 years of experience in engine performance, emissions and aftertreatment development for Diesel engines, although candidates with relevant spark ignition / gasoline engine experience will not be excluded, assuming they can demonstrate fundamental understanding of combustion principles and a strong analytical background.
* Specific experience with the development of electronically controlled engines is essential with an understanding of the control system requirements.
* Must have strong technical skills and ability to communicate technical information effectively.
The main responsibilities include engine performance and ratings development work. The positions will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating engine development work, including pre-test planning, detailed specification and writing of testing instructions, reviewing test data to ensure quality and post-test data analysis.
A key role will be, but not limited to, the development of electronic engine calibration maps that will be utilized in the engine control software. The candidates could also be involved in supporting engine system simulation, engine aftertreatment or regeneration strategy development to enable the engine to meet customer's performance expectations and all emission regulations.
