This position reports to the Manager, Northeast Rail Vehicle Group of WSP|PB America's Transit & Rail Technical Excellence Center. The selected individual will be responsible for providing technical expertise for electrical systems installed on rail vehicles. Vehicle technologies will include streetcar, light rail, rapid transit and commuter vehicles. The position will be located in WSP|PB's Baltimore, MD, office or nearby. Potential projects will include the Maryland MTA Rolling stock and Associated Equipment GEC vehicle maintenance support or new vehicle procurements.

Responsibilities for this position entail:
      • Investigation of vehicle system issues as requested by the client
      • Assume technical and task management responsibility for the preparation of technical reports in accordance with PB's ISO requirements and as requested by the client
      • Preparation of progress reports supporting the GEC PM
      • Preparation of Technical Specification documents
      • Preparation of system and component documents supporting vendor and contractor solicitations
      • Review of contractor proposals and bid responses
      • Assume roles in assisting with new pursuits
      • Provide inspection and testing support to MTA maintenance and contractor maintenance staff

Job Requirements
Education Required:
      • Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline consistent with computer science, electrical and other systems work done by the rail vehicle group
Experience/Skills Required:
      • Five years' experience in transit and rail systems design/technical services employed by a major consultant, agency or contractor
      • Ability to coordinate multiple activities in a logical and orderly manner
      • Good communication and writing skills
      • The ability to work in a disciplined manner with little supervision
      • Knowledge of and experience with the electrical systems associated with rail vehicles such as propulsion, braking, HVAC,, trucks, diesel engines, air compressors, cab controls, communications systems and auxiliary power units/HEP units. Specific significant expertise in one of these systems is a plus

The selected candidate must have the ability to work in the United States immediately.
