Our client is currently seeking an estimator to undertake complex work on projects in the O&G, nuclear and power industries. |
Experience in estimating in heavy engineering industry
The role will entail reviewing incoming tender documentation and then producing a planned methodology, preliminary basis of estimate and a clear strategy for price competitiveness for inclusion in the overall tender strategy. You will be required to engage with internal stakeholders, in particular the Senior Bid Manager, Commercial Manager and Senior staff members to ensure margin expectations and risk expectations are being met. You will also work closely with the Commercial Manager in the establishment and continuous review of appropriate NORMs and productivity factors across a range of disciplines, to ensure low risk delivery and competitiveness against the competition.
You will also be required to prepare detailed estimates through a range of techniques and cross check against past and current experience and you will be able to use various methodologies to ascertain estimate uncertainty and the required risk factor from the tender risk register. You will also present and advise of estimate structures to the senior management and key stakeholders, including clients. Ideally you will have previous experience in a client facing role.
You will have a good working knowledge of the petrochemical, power and process markets and have experience in a bids and proposals team. Our clients work is also very site based so any experience on petrochemical/process plant sites is also very desirable. You will be a degree qualified individual either within engineering or a financial degree and hold good IT skills. You will also need to have demonstrable knowledge in the continuous improvement of estimating methodologies and the positives and negatives of differing approaches.
