Job Summary

The Category Lead - Travel will be responsible for managing spend for defined categories, Air & TMC (Travel Management Company), and will be the main point of contact as it relates to travel service operations. This data centric role will generate insightful reports to support executive level presentations which will be used to set strategy for the Air and TMC category to drive compliance and identify cost saving opportunities across the organization. Additionally, the Category Lead - Travel, will develop and maintain internal relationships with key stakeholders to support business operations, and remove obstacles. The Category Lead - Travel will also be responsible for making recommendations for TMC system enhancements and modifications according to company policies, procedures, and global structures.

Duties Include:
  • Managing global TMCs business partnerships including air travel related contracts
  • Conduct regularly scheduled business reviews with TMC and airlines to identify operational, financial and strategic trends, opportunities, and risks.
  • Act as single point of contact for escalation/resolution to address all TMC issues
  • Provide internal customer service support for U.S. based employees
  • Communicate travel program changes and requirements to global TMCs
  • Negotiate and actively manage air contracts and category spend to ensure continuous improvement, increase savings and reduce risk
  • Deliver against savings targets and required service levels
  • Educate and influence stakeholders to make the most value-oriented purchasing decision
  • Be the travel evangelist and communicate with travelers and meeting organizers about travel trends, updates, and safety issues
  • Develop effective working relationships across AECOM; requires excellent cross team collaboration
  • Provide reoccurring and ad-hoc travel management reporting providing key metrics to various levels of management
  • Analyze data, and provide insightful recommendations for potential process improvements, savings opportunities, compliance campaigns including change management recommendations
  • Deliver technical reports in an understandable manner to non-technical users with both oral and written communications; create and manage communications

Minimum Requirements
  • 5 years' experience in corporate travel management
  • Keen understanding of TMC operations; strong expertise in end to end travel processes, and applications; ability to evaluate different technology solutions and recommend best fit products
  • Knowledge of regional differences and customs a plus
  • Strong influencing skills to enable motivation of direct and indirect teams across multiple geographic locations to comply with global policies and processes
  • Outstanding written and verbal English communication skills
  • Highly developed analytical skills, excellent critical thinking, negotiation and problem solving skills
  • Ability to perform advanced math functions to monitor and report on budget and performance indicators.
  • Ability to read and understand contracts and service agreements.
  • Driven to perform, and succeed individually, and as a team
  • Keen customer service orientation; strong attention to detail
  • Ability to provide support to various time zones
  • Organizational skills in order to balance and prioritize multiple deliverables and responsibilities across multiple, concurrent projects.
  • Identify project goals, set and manage timelines, anticipate and identify issues, remove obstacles and communicate project progress to stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and collegially; engage in open dialogue with project team and across the organization

Preferred Qualifications
  • 2 years of airline sourcing experience preferred
