Job Summary
AECOM is actively seeking a Communications Manager for immediate employment in the New York, NY office. The Communications Manager will utilize strong communications and creative and technical skills to assist the Senior Manager of Communications and Technology, in implementing effective corporate communications initiatives.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Write impactful speeches and create effective PowerPoint presentations for senior managers for participation in internal events and external conferences. Ensure highest quality, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Manage speaking engagements for senior managers up to and including the President of MTA Capital Construction (MTACC) to ensure a successful and smooth outcome. This includes conducting due diligence on the nature of the speaking engagement, ensuring compliance with MTA ethics rules, overseeing logistics, and ensuring all audio/visual equipment operates as expected.
  • Take the lead on communications projects, coordinating written materials and other content with multiple internal and external contributors
  • Provide editorial support for all written materials produced by the communications team, ensuring high quality grammatically correct writing and consistent use of logos and styles
  • Provide graphic design expertise to the communications team. This includes work for screen or print such as images, logos, posters, flyers, brochures, reports and pamphlets
  • Provide content management of the agency intranet site, including preparing articles, updating project information and ensuring content is kept current and accessible
  • Catalogue and maintain all photos on agency network/hard drives in a systematic way
  • Digitally retouch photographs as needed for color correction, lighting, cropping and other effects to produce a more visually interesting work project using Adobe Photoshop software for a variety of web and print uses
  • Develop stories about the agency's projects and people, effectively conveying complex technical information to a wide non-technical audience
  • Prepare concept outlines for video storytelling; edit video footage into compelling project videos
  • Perform event management for a variety of corporate functions such as corporate outings, holidays and retirement parties, and all-hands meetings
  • Manage the review and approval process for abstracts, white papers, and presentations that have been submitted by MTACC consultants, contractors and sub-consultants for publication in professional journals and conferences. Ensure MTACC is correctly attributed, and information is current and accurate
  • Perform research as needed
  • Manage graphic designer/copywriter interns as needed

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Public Policy or a related discipline
  • 8 years of experience in Communications
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Design Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver) or Adobe Creative Cloud, some video editing skills

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in Communications
  • Experience in government communications
  • Video editing skills with either Adobe Premiere or Apply Final Cut Pro
