Our professionals specialize in design, master planning, environmental and ecological planning, strategic planning and economic development. We create implementable solutions that promote sustainable land use and enhance quality of life.

Job Summary
The Design Planning Economics practice of AECOM is seeking a creative, energetic and solution-oriented Environmental Planner for immediate employment in the Arlington, VA.

The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
  • Collaborating with project teams in the preparation of community development plans for municipalities and/or federal agencies
  • Preparing environmental documentation in compliance with the National Environmental Policy Act
  • Reviewing and compiling existing secondary sources of environmental and planning information
  • Preparation of planning deliverables, including graphics, reports, and public engagement materials
  • Reviewing proposed development plans
  • Attending, preparing materials, and writing minutes for agency meetings
  • Developing project schedules
  • Conducting field visits to verify conditions and collect data
  • Conducting stakeholder outreach

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in urban planning or similar field
  • 3 years of experience
  • Competence in Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint, as well as Adobe Creative Suite
  • US Citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master of Urban Planning degree or similar
  • 2 years of professional experience in preparation of environmental review documents
  • Planning experience for parks, especially the National Park Service
  • Planning experience in the Washington, DC metropolitan area
  • Competence in Geographic Information Systems software, including ArcInfo
  • Ability to meet the Secretary of Interior's Professional Qualifications Standards for historic preservation
  • Familiarity with "Smart City" planning approaches and low-carbon planning approaches
  • AICP or active involvement in APA
